Accord Architecture

Funeral homes often have historical significance in a community. Such is the case with Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel in Mason City, Iowa. In 1998, Accord designed a chapel addition to the funeral home to accommodate services and to allow for better accessibility, particularly for elderly people. This chapel addition utilized the existing drop-off canopy as the main entry area, with the chapel constructed adjacent to this entry on a very tight site. Although the addition is not two-stories like the original funeral home, it incorporates some details to match the original architectural character, such as the railing above the entry vesibule.
