Spencer Hospital

In 2006, Accord designed this renovation to the second floor of Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa. The existing space had inpatient rooms and a center corridor. Accord's design shifts the corridor to the exterior wall to create more available space for the newly designed Inpatient Rehab and Pharmacy departments. The Inpatient Rehab area includes a large camp chair area for coaching and an "Activities of Daily Living" Apartment to help patients re-acclimate back into their daily lives. This ADL apartment includes a portion of an automobile, kitchen cabinets, dining table, residential bathroom and laundry equipment.

This project was completed in 2008

Mercy Medical Center - NH

At the north end of Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, Iowa is a round building attached to the hospital, constructed in the 1970's as an ICU pod. The shape of this building limited the possible use after the hospital decided to no longer provide intensive care. As part of the larger hospital-wide project in 2001, Accord designed the existing round space for physical therapy. The shape and location were ideal for this function as an existing entry for outpatient PT was right next to the round building. Other functions, such as hydrotherapy and occupational therapy, as well as individual treatment stations for PT are provided.
