Mercy Medical Center - NH
In 2001, Accord designed a new addition for Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, Iowa. This addition includes a new Surgery department, ER and Specialty Clinic. As part of the Surgery department, Same-Day Surgery rooms are included, which provide privacy for patients preparing for and recovering from surgery. After surgery, patients are taken to a separate Recovery room before going to the Same-Day Surgery rooms.
Accord took great care in designing the Surgery department to efficiently handle the flow of soiled items, clean items, patients and staff through the department. A mechanical penthouse above the new addition includes a new air-handling unit to provide high efficiency, correct humidity and clean air to the Surgery area.
Floyd County Memorial Hospital
The renovation of the existing Surgery department at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa was difficult due to the fact that this department was located in the center of the hospital. Further compounding this was the fact that the hospital was not fully sprinkled and this area is the oldest part of the hospital. Accord met this challenge by renovating the department in small phases to always allow at least one OR room in operation during construction so the hospital could continue to serve the community. In addition to the three OR rooms, this project included recovery, storage, outpatient procedure/exam rooms and other support spaces.
More DetailsCentral Comm. Hosp. Surgery
Central Community Hospital's site is a very sloping, challenging piece of property. While additions to this hospital are challenging due to this site, equally as challenging is to renovate an existing surgery department in the center of a hospital. That is just what Accord did in this project for Central Community Hospital.
Accord's design included a complete renovation of the existing department including the only operating room with better equipment, patient flow and nurse/physician work areas. This project was completed in 2008.
