Home Projects Healthcare Pharmacy
Spencer Hospital
So many departments in a hospital are not focused on patient treatment directly, but are responsible for making sure that patients receive the kind of care that they expect. The Pharmacy department at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa is just one of those departments. The importance of drug accuracy, security and accountability is supported in the design of this Pharmacy by Accord. The project includes the separation of hazardous and non-hazardous hood rooms with an ante space to reduce the threat of contamination. The Pharmacy includes pharmacist stations with picking areas by technicians. The flow of materials and orders was paramount in the design of this project and Accord worked with the Owner to streamline this process through the Owner's series of "Shape" meetings for lean design.
In 2009, Accord was once again hired to design a new USP 797 compliant pharmacy with hood room, ante room and workroom in the Abben Cancer Center.
Floyd County Memorial Hospital
The existing Pharmacy room at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa is undersized and inefficient. As part of the larger second floor renovation at FCMH, Accord has designed a new space for the Pharmacy department in a former ICU round portion of the hospital. A laminar hood room, chemo hood room and ante room are designed to create the proper separation to avoid contamination. The pharmacist office has vision to the main pharmacy area as well as the hood rooms. This project is currently under construction.
