Floyd County Memorial Hospital

In 2006, Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa contacted Accord to design a renovation to their entire second floor of the hospital. The existing second floor of the hospital houses semi-private inpatient rooms, an Obstetrics Suite, Pharmacy and one entire wing of offices. Construction was completed for all phases in 2009.

Accord's task was to design new private patient rooms to include ADA compliant bathrooms (with showers). These patient rooms are no longer "institutional" feeling, but instead have the warmth and beauty one might expect to see in a nice hotel. Solid wood cabinets, solid-surface countertops, leaf-pattern ceiling tiles, pull-out couch sleeping for patient visitors and adjustable light levels create this comfortable, healing environment. A new centrally located nurse station and new corridor work with in-direct linear lighting are included. Also, Accord designed an entirely new Obsetrics suite and Pharmacy in this project.

We are proud to say that this is the third large project for FCMH that Accord has designed.

Palo Alto County Health System

Realizing that the existing semi-private patient rooms were inadequate and less than competitive in the 2005 healthcare market, Palo Alto County Health System in Emmetsburg, Iowa hired Accord to design new patient rooms. The new design utilizes the existing patient rooms by converting these semi-private rooms to private rooms with appropriate and spacious patient bathrooms. Accord designed a new Acute Care Addition to maintain the bed numbers desired by the hospital and required due to the Critical Access Hospital designation. Upon completion of the construction, all patient rooms will be ADA and HIPAA compliant and they will provide infection control due to their single patient occupancy.
