Mercy Medical Center - NH

In 2001, Accord designed a renovation and expansion of Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, which involved many departments. Hospital function was paramount when determining how to expand and where best to place outpatient services relative to the entries and the relationships between departments. The hospital asked Accord to help reduce the need for multiple nurse station locations, particularly after normal hospital hours. Accord met this challenge by locating the main nurse station at a position that serves as the "hub" of the hospital. This hub provides viewing of the existing acute care wing, the new Obstetrics area (including the nursery), a view down the corridor to the ER and a direct adjacency to the main hospital waiting area at the center. Consequently, this waiting area is not located on an exterior wall, so natural light is introduced through four skylights over the waiting and nurse station spaces.

Floyd County Memorial Hospital

Prior to 1999, Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa did not have a defined Outpatient entry with registration for so many of the outpatient services they provide. Accord designed an addition that included this registration/waiting area for Radiology, Lab, Physical Therapy, Specialty Clinic and ET departments (also designed by Accord). This outpatient entry includes a canopy for drop-off of patients.

In addition to the outpatient services, Accord also designed new spaces for the Administration, Medical Records, Veterans Meeting room and Business Office hospital departments.
