Spencer Linear Accelerator
Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa hired Accord Architecture to design a new addition to house a more advanced, larger linear accelerator. Constructon of this linear accelerator addition occured in 2008. The linear accelerator addition involves 3'-8" thick exterior walls and roof, yet blends with the remainder of the existing front facade of the hospital with exterior materials that match adjacent structures.
During the linear accelerator design project, Accord Architecture designed a possible future phase showing a new front entry, waiting and patient education area.
Once again, in 2009, Spencer Hospital hired Accord Architecture to expand their chemotherapy area and improve the cancer center pharmacy.
Spencer Hospital DI
Accord teamed with Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa to design a renovation to the Diagnostic Imaging department near the center of the hospital's main floor. This was done through a process of "lean" design meetings the hospitals calls "shape" meetings. Accord has been involved in many "lean" design meetings at Spencer Hospital.
Once all phases are completed, this department will increase in size dramatically. The project includes a new MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, bone density, and stereotactic rooms. Supporting spaces for waiting, reception, consultation and offices are provided in the phased design.
A Women's Center is provided in the design focusing on women's care creating a comfortable, healing environment taking into consideration wellness ideas, such as colors found in nature, wood and stone library materials and unique vinyl wallcovering and artwork displays.
This project was completed in 2008.
Radiologists of North Iowa
Within the Forest Park Clinic and linked to the Mercy Medical Center hospital in Mason City, Iowa is the Radiologists of North Iowa Diagnostic Imaging clinic. Accord designed the renovation to this outpatient facility in 2004. This facilty includes Ultrasound and Mammo rooms, two X-Ray (fluoro) rooms and support spaces, such as the waiting/reception area, medical records and more. Improved patient access and egress to this area was a key objective.

Accord has been retained by Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, Iowa for the renovation of two areas in the hospital in the past three years. One of these renovations included the installation of a new CT Scan machine and the modification of the control and procedure rooms for this expensive piece of equipment. This CT Scan project was designed in 2006. In 2008, RHSHC again hired Accord for the renovation of the remaining Radiology department. This project is currently under construction.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, Iowa needed expansion in 2001. Accord designed this department to include a new CT Scan room, along with a renovation of the two existing X-Ray rooms. This department also included Mammo and Ultrasound rooms, upgrading the dark-room and adding other support spaces. The Diagnostic Imaging renovation and expansion was part of the larger hospital-wide construction project involving multiple departments, new additions and major renovations, all designed by Accord.

One of the seven departments relocated in this hospital-wide construction project, the Diagnostic Imaging addition at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa was designed by Accord to be entirely in the new addition portion of the hospital. This 4,000 SF department includes two X-Ray rooms, one CT Scan room, mammo and ultrasound rooms along with other support spaces.

Central Community Hospital is nestled into the side of a steep hill in the town of Elkader, Iowa. Accord designed a CT Scan room addition to the hospital, which included a decontamination room, medical records office and other support rooms for the CT Scanner. Accord has been hired multiple times by CCH since the completion of this project.
